The municipality covers the entire northern area of the Island, including among its natural wonders of the Natural Park Dunas de Corralejo and Isla de Lobos, with stunning and evocative landscapes of golden sand beaches and beautiful clear waters of stunning shades of blue and turquoise, addition to the magnificent volcanic formation of Bayu, authentic geological extension of the island, visited by the paths prepared for this purpose.
They also stress, this time for its seafaring flavor, the Torre del Toston, eighteenth century, the exquisite hospitality of the inhabitants of El Cotillo and versatility of its beaches, which allow more relaxation from absolute beginners to practice any water sport, although Corralejo and its wonderful beaches are the best equipped areas in the locality of infrastructure for sports like Windsurfing, Jet Ski, Diving ... and so on., to which are added the perfect conditions of temperature, transparency seabeds
Regarding craft, the village of Lajares has a reputation for its, exquisite embroidered hand-work
La Oliva, the capital of Fuerteventura until 1880, was the center of politics and social life, they are living witnesses to the stately buildings, among which stands out not only on the architecture of the area but the Island's House Colonels, outstanding example of colonial architecture. Founded in 1650 by Bethencourt Cabora family, whose coat of arms still includes the portico of the facade.
